Eyes on the street: Placemaking. Festivals. Art Projects.
This session aims to connect festival makers and art practitioners, to share experiences and skills with placemaking, organising festivals, funding and involving the communities. To give an overview of the projects we are involved with, to learn from and inspire each other, every participant is requested to prepare a (short) presentation. The presentations will be held with Q&A rounds in between. At the end of the presentations we will move over to the bar for drinks and talks and to deepen the conversations and networking.
Added value for a place? – Sustainable Tourism and Community building.
This session aims to gather practitioners working in the field of tourism and/or socially engaged art to share their experience. We will look at ways to engage communities, enable self-empowerment and offer alternative narratives to a place but also new ideas for a (more) sustainable tourism—how does tourism impact spaces, people and local culture? What is the responsibility to a community when working in the public space, a different country or the field of tourism? And what is the appropriate level of (artistic) engagement or tourism? To give an overview of the projects we are involved with, to learn from and inspire each other, every participant is requested to prepare a (short) presentation. The presentations will be held with Q&A rounds in between. We will exchange more during a community dinner at the beer garden – open for participants of the sessions, locals, visitors, tourists.
Christin Endter, dramaturge and curator from Berlin, Germany, and current resident of the Artist & Thinker residency at Rumah Sanur will share her experience with neighbourhood projects and working in the public space. She will also present examples for alternative work, life and tourism concepts – and discuss the latest tourism strategy of the city of Copenhagen, Denmark, which proposes the end of tourism (as we know it).
All about sustainable tourism, community building, festivals and art projects during a busy few days of workshops run by Christin Endter. Thanks to everyone who came.
These workshops were supported by Goethe-Institut Indonesien & Dinas Pariwisata Kota Denpasar.
